New...new...new

Well, I have two birth announcements to make. My cousin Karen had a little boy the other day but I cannot for the life of me remember what they named him, I think maybe it was Kobie but I'm not so sure now (note to self: write down everything) and my friend Tricia had a little girl yesterday named Sofie. Karen lives in Brisbane so I havn't seen her little guy yet but I went and visited Tricia & Sofie tonight and she is just beautiful. Here's a piccy...

After nearly 2 years of lugging a growing child around you forget how tiny they start out. Although little Sofie is a tiny one at 5lb 12ozs but she is just perfect. cluck cluck cluck. And my other friends Kim and Erica are both due soon too, Kim in 5 weeks and Erica in 9 weeks.

The other new thing around the place is our new bed, I know dosn't quite compare to a whole new little person really does it but I'm still excited. It's a bi-cast leather sleigh bed that I've loved since we got it in stock at work over a year ago and it's just had a big price reduction so I couldn't resist. It dosn't leave much room to move in our tiny bedroom though but oh well, we only sleep in there anyway.

And some scrapping to show too. I just got a HEAP of photos printed yesterday and I can't wait to scrap them all. Anyhoo, here they are, a little keepsakes tin for baby Sofie and a LO of the gorgeous Jack.

A nothing weekend

Well, we have done NOTHING this weekend. It's just been blissfully un-busy. Saturday morning I woke up at 4am with the worst heartburn(I'm never eating pizza at night again). I just could not lie still so I got up and had a bath which did nothing for me so I thought I'd just go and watch a movie and have a cup of coffee because I just couldn't sleep. So I watched two movies, John Cutter Must Die (bit stupid, teen flickish) and Stick It (gymnastics movie, which I liked, it was a bit teenish as well but I really like gymnastics), and then I went back to bed for a couple of hours, luckily Owen was off this weekend and looked after Jack. So then when I got out of bed Owen was watching the Benchwarmers, which was really funny. Then I did some scrapbooking, we had dinner, watched Iron Chef (one of my favourite shows) put Jack to sleep (which took FOREVER) and then we watched LittleMan which was pretty good too. Have I mentioned before just how much I love our new media room? Then today I pottered around a bit, put dinner in the slow cooker, did some scrapbooking and surfed the net. So how's that for a lazy weekend.
When I got home on Friday night there was a message on the phone from Mum to say Grandad had been taken to hospital because he'd been having chest pains so that was a bit worrysome. He's in his eighties but is really good for his age. Mum rang later that night to say they were keeping him in for observation that night and to do some tests but that they thought he may have had a minor heart attack. I'm not sure what the actual prognosis is but Mum phoned Saturday morning to say he's okay and has gone home and will just have to go and see his GP on Monday. Mum is coming over this afternoon so I'll get all the details then.

Scrapbooking: There was a cyber crop on on Friday night at EB which was great. I didn't chat much as I was a bit pre-occupied thinking about Grandad but I did do a page . There were 3 challenges, 1. a Lo using scraps, 2. a sketch challenge and 3. a LO using fabric and stitching. I'm really happy with the third one but the other 2 are a bit sterile. Oh well...

Well I had better go and vacumm. Mum is coming over this afternoon for her regular Sunday afternoon drop in and then she's staying for dinner and Owen's Dad and nephew are coming over as well. We're having slow cooker pot roast and veges for dinner. It should be delicious and it'll be nice to have them all at our table. We hadn't seen Jadon for a while but now that his uni exams are finished he said he'll be coming around more which will be great and we are going to try to have Owen's dad over more often as well. He must be so lonely in that big house all alone.

3 LO's and a CJ page

Here's 3 LO's using the EB scrap pack. It was a great pack, I've done 5 layouts out of 3 pieces of pp and 2 sheets of cardstock so that's pretty good and they're all so different and I've still got all the chipboard cutouts and some rubbons to use.

And this is the CJ pages I did for Rach's CJ. I just thought I'd show it off cause I'm pretty stoked about the LO. I used the windows desktop background and made a clothesline and cut out little dresses for all the CJ participants out of all different BG papers and on the back it has a little picture of the person with some journalling about them.

Congratulations to Cat & Clair on their new postitions as Design Team members over at 3 Angels Scrapping.

Happy Valentines Day!!

I actually forgot that it was Valentine's Day when I woke up this morning. I'm ashamed to say we didn't do anything at all for Valentine's day. No gifts, no special dinner, no nothing. Oh well, maybe next year :P Well we did have pies together for lunch at the table while Jack was asleep. Does that count?

We're going to look at the Gotcha photos of Jack tomorrow. I can't wait to see them. I hope they are really nice.

I've been scrapping today using the EB scrap pack. Great stuff in that pack I tells ya. Here are two pages I've done so far and I'm nearly finished another and have an idea for a fourth.

Anyhoo, here they are plus a digi from last night using Rhonna Farrer's Free Love 2Pea's freebie.

It hailed!!

OMG, It hailed here today. I havn't seen hail in years. I was really excited. I used to love tropical storms when I was a kid. My brother and I used to sit in the front window and watch the hail and he used to run out and collect some in a cup. I'm sure we probably used to eat it, are you meant to eat hail. Anyhoo, it was only small today, Jack slept through it all. Here's a photo...

And here's a couple of LO's. The angel one I'm not all that happy with but anyhoo, it's done.
Right well since I live about the most unexciting life ever I have nothing to blog about so I'll just go. I probably should race around and tidy up before hubby gets home so he dosn't think I did nothing today

Back again

Just dropped in to post my latest altered letter. I'm just waiting for my little man to fall asleep so I can go and do some scrapping. I've been tossing around different papers and things to do a LO of the angel shot I took of Jack last month and finally decided which one's I was going to use and then while I was watching biggest loser tonight I drew up a sketch of the LO on Jack's megasketcha but he scribbled all over it and then erased it so I want to do it while it's fresh in my mind.

I've had the nicest afternoon today. My Mum came over for her Sunday afternoon coffee and we had a good old chat, caught up on all the family gossip, then when Jack woke up from his nap we went for his mandatory walk with Grandma, just around the block, we stopped at the spare allotment behind our place to play with the little plane Mum had bought him and then when Owen came home he bought the kite over and we had a not very successful go at that too. Mum stayed for dinner and I made a risotto and then Owen and I snuggled up on the couch to watch biggest loser . It has been so long since we've just sat together watching TV, it felt nice.

Anyhoo, here's that letter.

ETA- How cute is Travis off so you think you can dance. Man, I wish I could dance.

No title today!!

It gets a bit tedious trying to think up titles.

Anyhoo, I have a couple of scrappy things to show but Jack just came to sit up on my lap and has a stinky bum so I'll be back in 2 seconds...

Ok I'm back. So I'll show you my latest scrappy stuff first. There's a LO of Jack hanging out the 'washing' which was very cute and like Narelle said he'll make my future DIL very happy especially because he also vaccums, mops, sweeps, wipes down everything, puts every skerick(sp?) of rubbish in the bin and washes the walls. The second is an altered letter for Zoe's birthday. I'm doing a couple more of these at the moment too for birthday gifts. I think they're great but the J in the range dosn't self stand so I can't do one for Jack. Here they are...

Jack has been a bit off lately but I think it's just a combination of a cold, teething and distrubed sleep patterns. He has hardly eaten anything in a couple of days so I'm just cooking some pikelets to try and intice him. It seems to be working.

As I was cooking my pikelets I was thinking about some things as you do. I was down in the dumps a bit yesterday but today I'm feeling pretty happy with my life. I mean some weeks there may be a bit of tight purse strings and cranky husbands to deal with but I am pretty lucky. I have a great family, a husband that loves me to bits, the most beautiful, smart, cheeky, lovable, healthy son and we all are in good health, have all our limbs and have plenty of food in our tummy and a warm bed at night. It's so frustrating that things are so out of proportion when you feel depressed. I just wish I had a lighter attitude towards life. I mean in general I'm happy and chatty and easy going but lately the slightest thing tends to send me off. Poor Owen normally gets the brunt of it. Maybe I should puts some mantras around the house to remind me of the important things.

Okay on to a completely different topic althogether now. On Friday night I went out with the girls from work, we have once a month dinner date, and it is such a nice night out. We went to Pacinos, an italian restaurant that's been around forever, and it was great. The woman that owns it is a bit brusque but the other wait staff were lovely. I had the most delicious meal, lobster ravioli with asparagus in champagne sauce. It was devine, and then tiramisu for desert. YUMMY!! After dinner Charlene and I went to Jenny's house for coffee and a chat. It was so relaxing. Jenny showed us her wedding dress, she got married probably 30 years ago or so, so it was the 70's and you should see her dress. It's adorable. It's just cotton with cotton lace bands running horizontally all through the dress and I think it's probably about a size 4. Nothing underneath, thoroughly see through and she wore a wide brimmed sun hat. The photo is just gorgeous, especially with Allen in his cool suit and the funkiest shoes ever. Anyhoo, it was a lovely night.

Hmmm, what else, what else. Well there's nothing really and I should be doing some housework anyway but I might go and do my EB recipe cards instead. I'll put on a load of washing to make me feel better about it first.

Ciao! :)

Jack's New Bed

Well on the spur of the moment yesterday we decided it would be a good idea just to buy Jack a big boy bed. We were going to make one but everything just takes forever to do in this house. We bought a 3 in 1 bunk. It can be seperated into two seperate beds or set up as a standard bunk or as a L shape which is what we've done. It took me all afternoon to put it together and I ended up with a partially black thumb nail and I knocked Jack flying trying to get the mattress into his room, he's okay though. So anyhoo, currently he's asleep in our bed because of course he dosn't want to sleep in the bed does he. I hope he's not scared of the bunk thing. I'll put him in his bed soon anyway and we'll see what happens tonight I guess. So there you go, my baby isn't a baby anymore. His cot and change table are all packed away. I did shed a little tear when I dismantled everything. Here's some pictures (ignore all the huggies boxes, they're chocked full of old clothes)
Sorry, photos have disappeared, I'll re-load some other time

I bought my first scrapbooking magazine subscription last monthto Scrapbooking Memories and my first magazine arrived today. That was very exciting especially considering some of the EB girls had LO's in it.

Well, that's about it. Very exciting life I lead hey!! Oh, and a LO I finished last night.

You won't beleive this...

Owen's lunch was stolen out of the fridge at work today!! I can't beleive it, they even took the container and I'm spewing because I watched way too much TV last night what with the return of Desperate Housewives and that new Brothers & Sisters so concequently we were up until late making lunches, sushi, and then someone goes and steals it. Mind you, I don't blame them it did look really nice, hickory smoked chicken and avocado sushi. Owen was so cranky because he didn't get to have lunch until after 3 this afternoon and then he had no lunch to eat!! So I left a message on the fridge that says "To whoever stole Owen's sushi from this fridge on Tuesday 6.2.07 I hope you enjoy it because it was homemade and unfortunately for you we were fighting at the time so I laced it. It might taste like hickory smoked chicken but was it really? Regards Jody". We have no idea who took it and it's easy enough for the general public to access the staff room but I'm sure it would have been a staff member. I hope they get indigestion and can't sleep tonight.
A Jack sleep update...well last night was bearable. Jack went to sleep in our bed and I transferred him to his cot, he woke at about 12.30 (which really didn't worry me because I couldn't get to sleep because I was waiting for him to wake) and I grabbed him and stuck him in our bed. Thankfully we had no screaming and we all slept soundly all night. This is probably going to be a bad idea but I bought him a big boy bed today, it's getting delivered tomorrow. I'm sure it won't stop him from waking at night but he's nearly 2 and all his little friends are in beds now so I thought we may as well. I can't wait to re-arrange his room and make his new bed. I've bought a couple of really cute quilt covers. I'm sure I'll be more excited than he will be about the linen but I think he'll like having his own bed. I hope so anyway.
Hmmmmm, what else. Nothing really exciting. There's 4 new flavours in Tim Tams. LOL. I think I'll just leave it there. I'll post some photos of Jack's bed tomorrow.

Another crap night!!

Well, Jack went to sleep easy enough last night, albiet in out bed and I transferred him to his cot which was fine for a couple of hours. Then we had the same as the last few nights, screaming for an hour so I did the bad thing again and we went out driving at 1.30 in the freaking morning. Poor Owen had his first day back at work today and I tried to get him to sleep while I looked after Jack but he wouldn't so anyway we were both up until nearly 2am. Don't you hate the way you get a little bit tired and every little niggle in your relationship becomes a whopping great chasm. Anyhoo, we're back to lovey dovey now and Jack and I are off to the doctors this afternoon to have his ears checked in case they're infected. This morning though I noticed that we've had 2 new teeth erupt and they weren't there 2 nights ago because I checked for newies then. So maybe it's just all that, the teeth, the cold, the routine interruptions.
Well, I better go and get Jack up for his doctors appointment (I knew he'd still be asleep). Hooroo

Another crap night but a great day shopping today!!

Well we had another bad night last night. Jack woke up at midnight and would not let either of us really comfort him but especially not me. It's so heartbreaking to watch your child crying their little heart out and not being able to pick him up and comfort him. I was in tears and Owen was getting cranky and Jack was just unconsolible. It went on for about an hour and a half until I finally just held and rocked him(with great difficulty) whilst chatting away for about a half hour and then he slept with us. He was sick last night and he's very snotty so I'm not sure if he's getting a cold or teething or both. Anyway we all got about 6 good hours sleep so we'll cope.

Today Jack & I went shopping while Owen and Ben did some stuff. I went a got some lace and ribbons and things from Spotlight and then went and checked out the sale at one of my lss. They're relocated and now have a smaller area so they had some things marked down to half price. I got a really cute set of alpha stamps for half price so I was pleased. Speaking of scrap supplies, I can't wait for my blue bazaar sale order to come through. It's just TOO exciting. My first ever big online scrap purchase and at bargain prices.

After that we headed off to the shopping centre and had a good browse aroung. I posted off Rach's CJ LO, which I just realised I forgot to photograph dammit, so now I only have Mel's and Net's to do. I might even do Net's tonight if I can since I have a nice scrap space to scrap about now. Mel's is a bit harder. I'm flat out coming up with ideas of my own let alone giving tips on scrapping but I'll get it done. I got a cute top/dress for around the house and some shorts for Jack and a jacket for a girl, either Lauren if Erica likes it or for one of my cousins girls. I bought Jack some cute little camoflague imitation crocs today too, the Big W ones. He insisted on wearing them immediately. They're a little bit big but the strap holds them on well. He also insisted on walking most of the day today which is unusual. Normally he's really good at staying in the trolley but not today. He had a great time in the grocery store.

Anyhoo, off to tidy up a bit before dinner. I'll just pop my latest LO on here though

Where's my little angel gone?

I was going to post something on here last night about my gorgeous little man. He has been like a child possessed the last few days. I don't know whether it just because O's on holidays and our routine is all out of whack. Plus O's a bit of a push over and Jack has been pretty much getting everything he demands. Anyway we've had some shocking tantrums and some sleep issues which makes me so very cranky. Jack has never been a very good sleeper and has only slept right through the night less than 20 times and the kids nearly 2. The other morning though he woke up at 4ish and proceeded to scream hysterically for about 2 hours until we finally couldn't take it anymore and put him in the car and went for a drive. It took him about 40 minutes to fall asleep but then when we got home we all went back to bed and slept until 11 so at least that was a relief. I don't know if he's having nightmares or what but he has been near impossible to re-settle lately. Anyway, I'm sure it's just a phase or just because his routines out and everything will get back to normal soon. I hope anyway.

The Wierd Tag...

From Amanda's blog.

6 Wierd Things About Me

1. I tend to come across pretty tough and confident but I'm actually a big sooky la-la. I even cry at ads on TV especially that skin cancer one with the 'Aint no sunshine' song.

2. When I'm at work some times I have to stop myself from ringing DC to check on Jack. I get these stupid things in my head worrying that maybe he's been stung by a wasp and is allergic or squeezed through a gap in the fence or whatever really. I just get gripped by panic.

3. I can't sleep with my feet under the covers no matter how cold it is. Too claustrophobic.

4. I can fall asleep in 2 seconds flat. This has really only happened since Jack was born and I'm sure it's due to getting up to breastfeed for all those months and trying to get in as much sleep as possible. It really annoys Owen because he'll be talking to me when we're in bed and I just start snoring. I just can't help it.

5. On the internet in forums and things. I'll type up a response to something, taking ages, thinking of all points of views possible, then chicken out at the last minute and not post anything. I do the same with on-line shopping to. Fill up my trolley and then decide not to buy after all.

6. If I go to someone's house and their toilet paper is under not over I'll change it. Can't stand it.

eta. I forgot to tag anyone, so I'll just tag everyone that reads this

4 Layouts!!

Well as you can see all I did yesterday was scrapbook. Owen is on holidays so Jack has just been running between the two of us, practically keeping himself occupied. It's great.
Speaking of Jack, his routine has been shot to peices lately and it's getting a tad annoying. We had some friends over last weekend and Jack was up until after 11 and since then we havn't been able to get him to sleep before 10. Arrrrgggghhh!! Anyway, last night he went to sleep at 11, woke up at 4 and just would not go back to sleep and would not start crying. We gave him some Nurofen and then we ended up taking him for a drive at 6ish (not something we've ever done before but he just wouldn't stop crying). Anyway we drove around for about half an hour before he fell asleep and then came home and all went back to bed, considering Owen & I were both up until after 1 last night and we all slept until 11 this morning. So hopefully today if we can get Jack to NOT have a nap we might be able to get him back to a reasonable bedtime. We'll see.
I've really enjoyed my couple of big scrapping days I've had lately. With everything that's been going on in our house and my lack of scrapping I was seriously feeling lost. Not the scrapbooking is the entirity of my life but it's nice to have something I really enjoy doing. I love looking back through my albums and I hope that 20 or 30 or even 50 years down the track my children (hopefully) and grandchildren will really appreciate the moments I've captured. I realy should try to journal more too.
Alrighty, I'm outta here. Heading over to Blue Bazaar to spend some money at there sale. I've also got a voucher from Scrapbook City for 40% off from a crop win but I'm going to save that up for all the new releases that are going to be coming out.

Memory Journal

So I decided to start a memory journal this year inspired by the amazing Heidi Swapp.  She is so talented, I just love her style.  I'm ...
